Care to tell me about that fine gentleman in the bulls hat you just reblogged a picture of? Is he an ahl goalie and care to share everything you know about him ever and show how flawless he is?
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
Eddie Lack (or Eddie Läck, if you want to be technical about it) was born on January 5, 1988 in Norrtälje, Sweden, making the world a more attractive place by his mere presence.
He went undrafted in the 2009 NHL Draft because people are dumb, so he went to go play in Elitserien (Sweden’s highest hockey league) as a backup to Florida Panther prospect Jacob Markstrom. His awesome play eventually caught the eye of the Vancouver Canucks, and he was then signed to an entry-level contract.
He was then assigned to the Manitoba Moose, where he pretty much dragged the team to the second round of the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs. (Even though they eventually lost to the Hamilton Bulldogs, game seven went into three fucking overtimes because of his amazing play. This was the most exciting game I’ve ever listened to on the radio.)
Since he’s pretty much stuck behind Luongo and Schneider on the Canucks’ depth chart until one of them gets traded or retires, he was reassigned to the AHL. Now he’s the #1 goaltender on the Chicago Wolves (the Canucks’ new AHL affiliate).
Lack is 6’4” and weighs 183 pounds. He’s one of those tall, gangly goaltenders who uses their size to see the puck coming at him through traffic. He’s also not afraid to push someone out of the way when they try to put their big asses in front of him.
When he wins, he does his Eddie Lack dance. When he makes a save, the Wolves play “Save The World” by Swedish House Mafia.
Also, he has a Twitter: @eddielack. It is pretty great.
